If i take the pill everyday how effective is it after being taken, how long does it stay in my bloodstream?
A constant level of hormones must be maintained in order to gain the greatest level of protection from the pill. You need to take them every day, and if you've taken them consistently from the start, you have full contraceptive protection within one week of your first pack, and will continue to have protection till you stop taking them permanently.
Once you stop taking BCPs, you usually return to a normal cycle within a month or two, and the hormones leave your system fairly quickly ... usually only a week.
